Day 25: Friday, April 24
Fun Friday! We wrote about our favorite things to do outside then made a class graph of these things. It took a long time and isn't in this video since every kid got to share. You could make a family graph of what you like to do outside! Then we did a dancing raison science experiment! Have a fun weekend.
Day 24: Thursday, April 23
We played a new letter-sound matching game, read "Here We Are" by Oliver Jeffers, and sorted our collections into categories that we counted and analyzed. Then we drew a picture of an our outdoor spaces using lines, shapes, and space.
Day 23: Wednesday, April 22 🌎 Earth Day!
Happy Earth Day to you and our beautiful earth we get to live on. We finished reading Secrets of the Apple Tree book focusing on naming the main idea and key details, Then we made a visual graph with our nature collection. We drew shapes and used negative space to fill in our picture.
Day 22: Tuesday April 21
Today we thought about the main idea and the key details when reading the text. We analyzed our collections by putting items in categories, counting them, and see what we had more/less of. Also, there were at least 7 roly polies in the estimation jar along with the pinecones!
Day 21: Monday, April 20
What’s in your outside space? How have you been playing outside? We read “Chirri and Chirra in the Tall Grass” by Kaya Doi to see what these two girls did on an adventure outside their home. Then we started to categorize some things that we found in our yard.
Day 20: Friday, April 17
Can you believe we’ve had 20 days of school at home…really 27 because we didn’t start Little Peach House School. It was butterfly day and we looked at our new butterfly garden, read The Very Hungry Caterpillar and drew a butterfly with lines to make it special.
Day 19: Thursday April 16
We didn’t read a story but told stories today! Thinking about an important event or moment, why it was special, then thinking through the beginning, middle, and end is a great way to get ready to write. Then we played roll to 100! Tomorrow is butterfly day!
Day 18: Wednesday, April 15
We read “Here, George” then retold the beginning, middle, and end. Then we wrote about the important parts. Next we drew 100 of something by putting them in sets of 10. For drawing, we drew our name with fancy lines.
Day 17: Tuesday, April 14
We used animals to retell the story of Harry the Dirty Dog and we counted 100 things by putting them in piles of ten.
Day 16: Monday, April 13
This week we’re focusing on story telling and counting to 100! We’re reading stories with dogs and retelling the stories as well as our own stories. Tomorrow you’ll need ~100+ of something and possibly a counting mat like this.
Day 15: Friday, April 10
It’s the last day in the rainforest! We looked at the layers of the rainforest, studied the roots of trees, made scientific drawings of leaves, and set up a leaf exploration! Can’t wait to see you on Monday my lovely friends!
Day 14: Thursday, April 9
We continued to use the 5 questions words to look for details about the text. But I’m so sorry, I forgot to record part of my read aloud! Then we did the estimation jar with spoons. We used our collections of 20 things to play Grab and Count. Finally, we drew an animal that you would find in the Emergent Layer of the Rainforest, can you guess what it is? Please do let me know if you’re watching these and I’ll try to make sure to say hello on camera to your child! You can email me at hello@aneladeisler.com.
Day 13: Wednesday, April 8
A Ram Sam Sam! The kids did speed writing with their letters and word cards. We read the first half of The Great Kepok Tree and used our five question words on our hands to use details to talk about the story. The kids drew their prediction of what would happen next. We’ll find out tomorrow! In math we played a bug game working on numbers 1-10. You can make your own bug game up to 20 or more at home! We finished with drawing a sloth.
Day 12: Tuesday, April 7
We used our fingers to think about who, what, when, where, and why to use details to talk about the story we read which was Slowly Slowly, Slowly, said the Sloth by Eric Carle. In math we wrote the numbers 1-20 and made the numbers fancy with bugs. We drew an Emerald Tree Boa too!
Day 11: Monday, April 6
Let’s Take a Trip! We took an airplane ride to the rainforest and we’ll study this magical place all week as we ask and answer questions. We made bugs with dots and are focusing on counting to 20 in math this week but of course go as high or low on your counting as you’d like. We’re drawing every day this week and started with a jaguar.
Day 10: I’m so sorry but the recording didn’t work this time bc I was updating my zoom account while it was converting the video. But we watched Ok Go’s Music video for This Too Shall Pass and studying ramps to make a system. Something really fun that you could do at home too!
Day 9: Thursday April 2
We thought about what makes our homes special and looked in all the rooms of our homes. Sorry, I couldn't include the story bc other kids were on the video. We created homes out of shapes. Tomorrow is Fun Friday: balls and ramps!
Day 8: Wednesday, April 1
We read “If You Give a Pig a Pancake” by Laura Numeroff and focused on the main character and setting. Then we thought about our own homes and drew a map/blueprint of our homes. For math, the estimation jar was so full it filled up our whole time together!
day 7: Tuesday March 31
We started word/letter work. We read more of "This is How We Do It" by Matt Lamothe and drew pictures of ourselves in our homes. We also continued our shapes studies and made shapes out of sticks.
Day 6: Monday, March 30
What Makes your Home Special? We read "This is How We Do It" by Matt Lamothe and drew a picture of our homes. In math, we began a shape study and drew a chart of shapes with labels. Tomorrow we start word/letter studies!
